Under RAP2, the RTI Sector Maintenance Pilot supported the Government’s RTI SWAp Programme to promote sustainable LRN asset management. RAP3 has continued this work by helping DoLIDAR to develop an Infrastructure Asset Management System (AMS). This starts with LRN maintenance, rehabilitation and upgrading, and then expands over time to cover all rural infrastructure interventions that are the responsibility of DOLIDAR (now DOLI). The five Pilot only districts continued to be used to develop and test new ideas and procedures for the AMS.
This AMS will be a harmonised, single set of technical and management systems that, in the future, will be followed by all rural infrastructure projects funded by the Government of Nepal and donors. This is seen by Government as the key to moving towards a true SWAp for the rural infrastructure sector.
