Bajura DCCI to increase number of women on their Executive Committee

The Bajura District Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has committed to increasing the minimum number of reserved seats for women on their Executive Committee to 33%.

The DCCI tabled and agreed to pass RAP3 CONNECT’s policy reform “Female Representation on DCCI Executive Committees’ recommending a minimum reservation of 33% for women members at their Annual General Meeting.

Last year the DCCI’s in Dadeldhura, Dailekh and Doti passed the same reform.

Yuva Vayus in Organic Mountain Flavor's (OMF) supply chain have received further training on organic farming practices and organic certification, another step on their journey to becoming leaders in their communities and an important link between their micro business clusters and OMF.

 

SMEs in Mid and Far West receive business support from KUSOM MBA students

15 businesses in the Mid and Far West have received business support from Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM) MBA students. 

KUSOM MBA students must complete a 3-week Rural Enterprise Service placement in which they offer their business consulting services to local SMEs in rural districts.  RAP3 CONNECT identified 15 businesses that might benefit from the students' input, assessed business needs and aspirations and linked them with 12 students. 

Seed producers in Dailekh to benefit from 4 new irrigation ponds

RAP3 CONNECT, in partnership with Hatemalo Seed Promotion Cooperative (HSPC), Dullu Municipality and the local community, are investing in the construction of 4 irrigation ponds in Dullu, Dailekh.  The ponds will benefit HSPC's downstream suppliers in Bhairav, Chipchipe, JanaSahayogi and Vinadi.  Investment committed is NPR 4.57 lakhs from HSPC with NPR 12.19 lakhs from CONNECT, NPR 6.09 lakhs from Dullu Municipality and NPR 10.62 lakhs from the local community.

Last year, HSPC along with CONNECT, District Agriculture Development Office, Village Development Committee and local communities completed 5 irrigation ponds in Malika, Dailekh (pictured).

Latest bikash ko bato episode celebrates RAP women's achievements

In celebration of International Women's Day the latest Bikash ko bato episode features interviews with three RAP women that have brought about positive change within their communities.

At an awards ceremony held at RAP on International Women's Day, we recognised RAP women that are defying stereotypes, challenging social norms, achieving academically, taking on leadership roles and inspiring thier communities.  Women from all the districts in which we work were nominated and the five overall winners travelled to Kathmandu to receive their awards from Head of DFID Nepal, Dr Rurik Marsden.
